Exhibition “Transformation”
Elisabeth Olszewska’s art is a masterful exploration of form, texture, and emotion, crafted through the
timeless Japanese raku-firing technique. Her ceramic sculptures, often rendered in a minimalist black-
and-white palette, embody a delicate balance between tradition and contemporary aesthetics. With a
focus on stylized human and animal forms, her work captures the essence of her subjects through
expressive simplicity, organic imperfections, and intricate textures. Each piece invites viewers to reflect
on the beauty of imperfection and the interplay between modern artistry and ancient craftsmanship. Her
works evoke a sense of narrative or emotion, often through abstracted or exaggerated forms.

Elisabeth (b 1963) has taken on the task of exploring the boundaries of glaze possibilities in her work
with stoneware. Always seeking her own expression, bold impulses, and free experimentation, she has
acquired completely unique experiences. Elisabeth Olszewska has elevated the work with color and
surface to a new level, where layer upon layer of glaze gives the fired stoneware very distinctive textures
and a remarkable depth in the colors. With her studio in Gamla Porslinsfabriken in Gustavsberg, and
various exhibitions she is well known for her audience.
