Exhibition Bar Social

“Bar Social” explores the boundary between the public and the intimate, creating a space for dialogues about community, participation, and exclusion. The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on how we navigate and experience the collective space, and what dynamics come into play when public and private spheres intersect. By highlighting these boundaries, “Bar Social” opens up conversations about both the power of community and the exclusions that can arise in shared spaces.

Annika Borgenhag Holmqvist (b. 1973)

Annika is an artist based in Eskilstuna, specializing in acrylic painting on canvas. Her works often focus on people in everyday situations, but with a twist that challenges the viewer’s first impression. There is frequently an underlying dimension of darkness that plays a central role in her art.
After high school, Annika chose to deepen her knowledge by studying at several high schools across Sweden, all with a focus on painting. At the age of 28, she began the Illustrator Program at Mälardalen University.

Anders Borgenhag Holmqvist (b. 1974)

Anders is a dedicated artist from Eskilstuna who primarily works with oil, but also with acrylic on canvas. His art is deeply rooted in observations of everyday life and reflections on the world around us. Through a personal angle, Anders processes his subjects and gives them a unique perspective.
After graduating with a degree in Illustration from Mälardalen University in 2007, Anders has combined his artistry with work as an illustrator.
